Scope and Contents

The collection consists of Anita Hillesland Londgren’s finding as she looked into her Norwegian ancestry. The story, which contains the Myrstøl family’s ancestry all the way back to year 860, is made into a booklet broken into the chapters: Roots in Norway (and Denmark and Sweden), Emigrants and Immigrants (Going to America), Families and Individuals, Religion and Churches, Culture, Customs and Communities, and Family Photos.

Anita Hillesland Londgren was born in 1936. Her grandmother Lisbet Myrstøl Hillesland, born in 1859 in Sokndal, Norway, emigrated to the U.S. in 1883. Little is mentioned of Anita’s life, mainly the life of her ancestors and family.

Abstract

Myrstøl family historydating back to 860 in Rogaland Norway The booklet starts with a brief account of Norway’s history, then over to the Scandinavian emigration. Thereafter the story goes back in the family history of the Myrstøls, telling of the places they lived, where they went, and some interesting people in the family. Some of the interesting people are Danish or Norwegian kings dating all the way back to year 860. The booklet also mentions religious and cultural differences in Norway and America, comparing information gathered by ancestors of the Myrstøl family.
