Biographical / Historical

Nordlandslaget Nordlyset or Northlight Club began in 1912 as a group of young Norwegian immigrants from Northern Norway struggling to make thier was in a stange land. The club now accepts all of Norwegian descent. The club holds regular meetinfs to promote interest in Norway's heritage, history, language, literature and art. It aims to help further ties between family and friends between Norwegians here and in Norway, to stimulate travel to Norway, and to help and comfort members who are in need or sick. The Club participates with other Norwegian groups, often in leadership roles, in a variety of cultural and heritage activities. They helped build the Normanna Hall. The club also provides scholarships for study in Norway and provides programs that highlight Norway of today and yesterday.
