Biographical / Historical
On September 30th, 1879, Jonas Bergner decided to leave for America, said his farewells, and set out that same day. He traveled with Carl Bjurberg, and ironworker Johan Gustaf Bruha, leaving from Malmö and stopping briefly in Liverpool, England. Bergner's account describes aspects of his journey, including his opinions of the places and people he met along the way, his impressions of England and seeing Queen Victoria, as well as his thoughts on establishing a new life in America.
